Hi, I'm Jess! I work in educational media production. I'm new to designing apps, but there was a tool I wanted that didn't exist, so I decided to make it!
In June 2024, I will be marrying my fiancée, Eve. Eve's family is from China, and I have been trying to
learn a bit of Chinese
so that I can better
connect with them.
But, learning to read
Chinese characters
has been a struggle.
My Chinese tutor, Edmond, assures me that once I master radicals—the components of characters that indicate meaning—it will unlock a whole new level of understanding for me.
Since Eve's family speaks Taishanese, a dialect of Chinese with few educational resources available, I knew I wanted to make an app that was dialect neutral, so that students learning any dialect could practice and learn more about Chinese characters!
